More Money for NASA by Niles Bracy

Over the years the government has put a lot of money into NASA projects. Some people are against this because it seems like NASA is only working on something new every 3-5 years. But I believe NASA has made great improvements and will do a lot better in the future. Others see that NASA is making improvements and giving us good information on the space beyond Earth.
Some people think that NASA is only doing something when a shuttle leaves Earth. But what they don’t hear about is what NASA does in the time before a shuttle departure. NASA, in the meantime, is making new shuttles while the older one’s are in space. Also, more recently, NASA has made new plans for the future in space exploration. When man landed on the moon American Space Travel was using the Saturn V which was about 60ft taller than today’s space shuttle. Now they are working on retiring the space shuttle to replace it with the Orion. They are also working on a new series of spacecraft called the Ares Series. The complete series should be finished around 2018.
One of the main reasons I am for the government funding billions of dollars to NASA is because NASA has brought many new things to science. They do studies year round about things like global warming and the stars. One important discovery they made was that Pluto wasn’t a planet in our solar system but that it was from another galaxy. If it was really wrong that the government is putting so much money into NASA then they would stop. Also, many of the missions NASA goes on is an order from the government.
NASA has a lot planned for the future. President Bush announced that NASA will be going on a moon mission in 2018. NASA spacecraft are currently on their way to Mercury and Pluto. They are also doing deeper studies of Mars, Saturn, Earth, and the Sun. NASA is putting a lot of money into a plan for a permanent moon base to be built by 2024. NASA also try’s to save money in some situations. They hold challenges for non-government teams that include tasks such as making more efficient astronaut gloves.
With all that NASA is doing and planning I think the government should continue putting money into NASA. If the government thought there was something wrong with it then they would’ve stopped a long time ago.
